Welcome to Valeria, created by Lucention Labs Inc ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Valeria, our iOS application for alcohol moderation.

Our app is designed with privacy at its core. Your personal data remains on your device, and we use only minimal anonymous identifiers for app functionality.

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All of your personal health and usage data is stored exclusively:

  • On your iOS device: Your drinking history, goals, progress, and app preferences are stored locally using Apple's SwiftData framework
  • Apple Health: With your permission, we read from and write to Apple Health to track alcohol consumption and related health metrics. Apple Health data is encrypted and managed by Apple's high security standards.

This locally stored data includes:

  • Alcohol consumption records and patterns
  • Personal goals and milestones
  • Emotional state logs
  • App usage preferences and settings
  • Historical tracking data
Important: This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to use our optional AI Coaching feature (see below).

Anonymous Account Information

We create anonymous user accounts using Google Firebase to provide core app functionality. The only information associated with these accounts is:

  • Device Identifier: A unique identifier for your device
  • Anonymous User ID: Generated by Firebase Authentication
  • Basic usage analytics: App crashes, performance metrics (no personal data)

No personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, phone number, or location is collected or stored in Firebase.

Optional AI Coaching Feature: Valeria

How It Works

If you choose to enable our AI Coaching feature, presented as "Valeria" in the application:

  • Real-time audio conversations are powered by the Google Gemini Live API
  • When in use and triggered by your interaction, your historical emotional and drinking data is shared through secure function calling/tools
  • Audio conversations are processed in real-time and are not recorded or stored by us

Data Shared During AI Coaching Sessions

When you engage with the AI coach, the following data may be temporarily shared with Google's Gemini API:

  • Your voice input during the conversation
  • Historical drinking patterns and trends (anonymized)
  • Emotional state data relevant to your moderation journey
  • Progress toward your goals

We cannot control ultimately what Google does with your data, but given that it is a major American cloud services provider, it is assumed that they follow best practices for security and privacy.

Google's Data Processing

Please note that when using the AI Coaching feature:

  • Google processes the audio and contextual data according to their own privacy policy
  • We recommend reviewing Google's Privacy Policy to understand how they handle data
  • You can simply choose not to use Valeria's AI Coaching by not entering that section of the app

How We Use Your Information

We use the minimal information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain app functionality
  • Enable synchronization across your devices (using anonymous Firebase accounts)
  • Deliver optional AI coaching services
  • Improve app performance and fix technical issues
  • Ensure the security and integrity of our services

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share anonymous device identifiers only with:

  • Google Firebase: For anonymous authentication and app functionality
  • Google Gemini API: Only when you actively use the Valeria, AI Coaching feature
  • Cloudflare: Stores anonymous user account IDs and implements rate limiting for Gemini Live sessions
  • Apple: Through standard iOS app analytics (if you have enabled app analytics in your device settings)

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

  • All local data is protected by iOS's built-in security features
  • Communications with Firebase use industry-standard encryption
  • AI Coaching sessions use encrypted connections
  • We do not have access to the personal data stored on your device

Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over your data:

On-Device Data

  • You can delete all local data at any time through the app settings
  • Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
  • You control what data is shared with Apple Health

AI Coaching

  • This feature is entirely optional and disabled by default
  • You can enable or disable it at any time
  • You can request deletion of your anonymous Firebase account

Apple Health

  • You control which health data our app can access through iOS Settings
  • You can revoke access at any time

Children's Privacy

Our app is not intended for use by individuals under the legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately.

International Data Transfers

When you use optional features:

  • Firebase services may process data in the United States
  • Google Gemini API may process data in various global locations

These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
